This capitavating program explores the rich beginnings of song and polyphony in Europe: from the splendid chants of the Notre Dame in Paris or Las Huelgas monestary in Spain to the evolving songs and poetry of the Troubadours (the first singer-songwriters!) in France.
This program also features the rarely-heard organetto, the small portable organ, often seen in iconography and art, which was once the most popular instrument across Europe but disappeared completely in the 16th century! Renowned soprano Anne-Kathryn Olsen and celebrated spanish organetto virtuoso Guillermo Pérez create a historical soundscape reawakening the organetto in the context of this vibrant time in our musical past. Don’t miss the chance to hear this program (with a glass of wine in hand!) at the Ojai Vineyard Tasting Room. For more information and artist biographies, visit the group’s website, Tasto Solo.
